Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County
As of October 2026 the department’s website has no bed bug page; its programs list has no bed bug, pest or housing-complaint entry. Its Nuisance Abatement Program “investigates conditions such as trash, rodents, abandoned pools, and unsanitary conditions” at residential property “in unincorporated areas of Montgomery County” (937-225-4362), and routes city addresses to the City of Dayton Housing Inspection. Main line 937-225-5700. The department does inspect hotels and motels — that program →.
City of Dayton Housing Inspection
“The Division of Housing Inspection is responsible for the enforcement of existing structural maintenance,” including “structural housing conditions (both interior and exterior),” nuisance and yard standards. To report a housing code violation: City of Dayton Call Center 937-333-3977; case status 937-333-3867; One Stop, Third Floor, 371 W. 2nd Street. The page names no code chapter and does not mention pests, insects or bed bugs; a search of the city site for “bed bugs” returns nothing.
What we could not verify
- Dayton’s Revised Code of General Ordinances is published on a platform we could not read; we do not say what it requires about infestation or who it assigns extermination to.
- Whether Housing Inspection acts on a bed bug complaint inside a rental. Its page covers “structural” conditions; ask when you call and note the date and answer.
- A line that Public Health “does not conduct inspections or respond to complaints about bed bugs in private homes” appears in old news coverage we could not open. Confirm with the department.
- No Montgomery County bed bug task force exists in any current primary source we found.
